So BoO poked it’s head into ICC10. Trash was boring this time around, resulting in my 1) running in circles and 2) casting Mind Sear. It was rather amusing to watch our rogue Eviscerate try to disarm the traps and-on at least one occasion-fail miserably and almost get eviscerated himself. Eviscerate is probably the rarest of rogues: one who receives bubbles from me. He’s defying my stereotypical hatred of his class…damn it.
Marrowgar, however, was…not easy. We one shot him, yes (probably in part due to our previous attempts on 25) and didn’t even lose anybody, but it was a near thing. As a healer, at least, I did a lot of flailing and muttering OH MY GOD OH MY GOD under my breath, particularly when my fleeing from the whirlwind o’ doom resulted in me being no where near my assigned tank.
We did it with a tree, a disc priest, and a holy paladin-perhaps not ideal, but it’s actually a combination I adjusted to in Ulduar. Since the paladin has Bacon Hax, I tended to sprinkle bubbles on the raid a little more (occasionally a bubble and a sliver of health was all that stood between someone and death-meep!). This did stretch my mana pool a bit, but a couple of shadow fiends and one lonely mana pot got me through.
So yes, we one shot Marrowgar, and all agreed that it was glorious. Then…then we went to Lady Deathwhisper.
Deathwhisper was…not one shot, but like Thorim, the first phase is key. Once you figure out how to handle the adds, you’re golden. We had two ranged on the boss, the rest (all melee) all the adds. We had no way of handling the deformed uglies aside from…well, face tanking them, so we rotated cooldown because they hit like god damned freight trains. We got her into phase 2 once then wiped, so even though it was time to call it we said…no, no, fuck it, we’re doing this.
Now, historically, we should have walked in there and wiped to something retarded, because this is BoO and that’s just what we DO on the “last try, we were so close!” pulls. This time however, we handled phase one and and smoothly moved into phase two and…ta-da, loot.
I was really fucking pleased, let me tell you. I can’t wait until we go back on Monday.
/rubs her hands together
I will be revising my Marrowgar strat that I posted now that I have a better grip on the fight.

Grats on the wins!
#2 by Lloth on December 11, 2009 - 10:44 am
grats! you need to give healer tips plz :( we went into ICC10 last night, and our tanks kept dieing in the first 10-20 seconds. Both were in ToCr10 gear, but it may still be an issue of us being a bit to green for it…but seriously, not much I can do when the tanks die before I can get off a single HL or 2 Flashes.

Congrats! I am so hoping to see ICC tonight and tomorrow and am hoping to see good strats from here (so much more FUN than TankSpot, you know?) beforehand. No pressure though. >.>

Not going to lie, the worst part of our ICC 10s last night (at least in my group) was the stupid gigantic cleaving skeletons. :\ Amnesia happens from 25 to 10s, apparently…

Congrats. After wiping all night on Marrowgar we had to call it. 8 attempts and no loot made for a long night. /sigh

@Lloth – We had a disc priest and a holy pally on the tanks. Between beacon hax and my keeping both bubbled (and a lot of flailing on our part) we were able to keep them up. But a key part of our succes may be the fact that we’re not in pure 10 gear. If your tanks are just in ToC10 gear, they might need to gear up a bit/become bigger stam sponges. Perhaps blow cooldowns to start to give you guys a moment to get set up and into the flow of things?

I want to thank you for the post you did put up on Marrowgar though the first time around. Our guild hadn’t done the 25m ICC the night of the patch so your post was just in time for me to get an idea of what the abilities were of the trash so I kinda knew what was going on better than anyone else. (And appeared smart for being so observant! lol) And <3 the snowflakes!! Yay!

I’m happy you guys didn’t fail on 10. I would of transferred back off server in shame if you did. :P

Grats on the win. Can’t believe you got the second boss down and left the best part of the instance out. Wait until you try the battleship fight, you’ll want to reset it and do it again :)

My RL actually put me on raid heals for Marrowgar as I was able to respond really quickly to bone spikes with shields and penance and still able to keep the tanks shielded. We one shot him too, but our only difficulties were with positioning–people running to the north pole to get away from WW and then me not being able to find them when they needed healing.
Have fun with Saurfang. That one starts off super chill and then becomes zomfgpenance by the end. DPS need to be on their game.

Oh, and my groups’ battleship fight bugged out at the end. Our ship never docked so we all had to suicide after looting to even get to Saurfang. And once or twice during the fight players on the enemy ship got ported down to some random ledge only to get eaten by a few abominations. It was weird, but easy and incredibly fun apart from the bugs.

Congrats! Can’t wait to see the strats!

I dont want to brag….ok i do ;) … but i totally called it on the second boss.
If you remember, i said before we first pulled the trash on the second boss that we’d learn the fight during our first 4 wipes…and to be sure we downed her on our 5th attemp :)
I’m starting to understand the way our guild works, its kinda scary.
To sum up the first 2 boss….you better have fucking good healer because i dont remember any fight that werre so healing and mana intensive.
Cant wait till monday to tackle the Gunship fight…and hopefully Saurfang. As an ex-horde, i’m fucking scare of facing Saurfang.

@amber: what do you think of the new 5-mans?
My guild… had a toc5 reminiscence and thought it would be easy and perfect for alt gearing and to run it with undergeared significant others.
IT WAS NOT.
Scary Lich King is scary

*un-lurk*
Snowflakes!
ICC 10 is fun (for me, right now), and ICC 25 is painful like gouging my eyes out with spiked molten hot tongs. I expect that the more I run ICC 10 the less entertaining it’ll become, and the more entertaining ICC 25 will turn out to be for me, as fewer people stand in the “You know you love it!” fire and stop staying at max range from Marrowgar (because if they can’t see you’re spiked, you’re gonna stay there until you DIE because I’m not moving to heal you).
Glad to hear you’re enjoying the instance as well, and seeing some tasty purples drop for your efforts.

I don’t think it’s funny when I accidentally set off the spirit alarms and I’m SLOWED trying to run away from a giant skeleton, I’ve never been more frantic trying to hit vanish. it went something like “FUFUFUFUFUCK*poof*”
I was very happy when we one shot Marrow, even more so when we actually killed Deathwhisper. I am REALLY looking forward to manning the cannon and using a jetpack on monday though (HOORAY FOR MELEE FUN TIEM!!!)

A note on the gunship battle… the rocket packs are shirts and need to be equipped before the fight starts… we definately had to wipe an encounter because didn’t have that bit of very necessary information in advance.
