In Which Amber Bemoans the RNG in Ulduar

  1. Ignis trash will have a  conference beforehand and pick one person to slaughter repeatedly.  It WILL be a healer.  Both fire tornados WILL chase you, WILL pin you agaisnt the wall/in a corner and kill you, or WILL throw you into adds.  Sometimes, they will do both in the course of trash clearing even with reduced trash (as they did last night.  To me.  Of course).
  2. Ignis will put the one person capable of shattering his adds in his vibrating crotch pot 2-3 times in a row so that you have multiple adds up.
  3. When he’s not doing that, he puts a healer in the pot while simulatiously causing as much damage to the raid as is possible.  The OT/shatter DPS will die or nearly die at this time.
  4. XT will put a light bomb on the priest just before a Tantrum, rendering PoH mildly useless.
  5. XT willl repeatedly put gravity bomb/light bomb on THE most inattentive melee DPS in the raid.
  6. A mushroom will not spawn anywhere near your healers.
  7. Kologarn will focus his eyebeams on your MT healer more so than anyone else.
  8. Several people, or at least your healers, will be feared into the Crazy Cat Lady’s void zones.

Highlights from BoO’s Ulduar last night:
2 10s were scheduled.  We beat 9 people into going and pugged a healer.  Sigh.
Best AFK of the night: “brb, my son shit on me”
Our pally tank was drunk.  Our warrior tank started drinking.  I wondered when Johnny Walker became a required raid addon and…sat there with my Amaretto Sour.  It has just been one of those weeks, guys.
We only wiped in Ignis.  Fuck you, Ignis.  Monday will start with Iron Council and Crazy Cat Lady, presuming everyone’s not off doing goodness-knows-what.

@Tego – Tank2 was rubbing it in Tank1’s face that he was drinking black and not red. :P

O… well….. That sounds like a group i want to raid with. as long as they accept that i drink jack mostly and not Mr Walker

Cap’n and Coke for this cat. Helps ease the stress levels on progression nights and is just nice to sip while relaxing on farm night. While alcohol isn’t technically required you’d be hard pressed to find one of our raiders who isn’t drinking something.

@Tego – Considering the fodness some guildies and friends have for The Four Horseman in alcohol form, which includes Jack, you might not be mocked too badly. ;)

I’m glad to see that I wasn’t alone in being singled out by those damn tornado’s.

Yes, it does help to have a frosty beverage on hand for raids!

Hopefully I will be back from my holiday festivites in time to join ya Monday night. It’s been the week from hell for me in RL, so I need me some WoW!

@Zuki – It seems to have been the week from hell for everyone, hence the drinking. Well on our part anyway. Steve is usually drinking. :P

In one of our 10-man XT I managed to get all but one light bombs and all gravity bombs. At least I made the life easier for others as I healed the damage on me myself through VE :)

I’ve noticed that things like Kologarn’s eyebeams, stone grips, gravity bombs, iron roots, napalm shells, the vibrating crotch pot, and the like all seem to target the same person (a healer) over and over and over. If I get one of these debuffs once during a fight, I steel myself to get it again and again.

I’ll give you an idea that may, or may not help you a bit with ignis. Depending on how good your healers and DPS is, you can effectively ignore all of the kiting. If you have the main tank stand in the pool of water, it mitigates all the scorch damage. Have the off tank kite the adds around, and all DPS focus on a hard burn on Ignis, who will be completely stationary the whole fight.
