The New Recruit Curse

Murphy’s Law states that if we have a new recruit along–either one thinking of joining, or one who just shelled out good money to transfer on the grand assumption that we don’t actually suck–we will, in fact, suck. At least a bit.

Of course the poor guy gets his first run with us on a night when we’re intentionally wiping on bosses for legendary shenanigans, so that’s splendid. Welcome to the guild, have some repair bills*. But theeeeen we proceeded to wipe on trash.  Three times.

‘Shit, where did these scorpions come from?”
/raid splatters

….x2. Add in some fun with the fire elemental gauntlet and, well.

SiB can’t be the only guild afflicted with this curse, though…can it?

*Gbank paid, though–we’re not that cruel.

You really, really aren’t alone. There are nights when we wipe 5+ times just clearing to Shannox, and then one-shot 3 bosses in a row. Sense, it makes none.

Rest assured, you’re not the only ones wiping on trash. Happens to us all the time.

Lmao he fits right in though, considering he somehow unequipped his weapon and couldn’t figure out why Fuzz was ripping threat off of him. XD

In vanilla we had a tank who wanted to join. He was from a different server. The first night in Molten Core, we were all mass hallucinating or just tired, or some cosmic event caused our collective stars to be maligned. We wiped on an ill-times core hound respawn, a Lava Surger that knocked a hunter back into the aggro range for Ghennas, and the MT disconnected on Golemagg. Poor guy left the guild after his first raid.

A week later we killed Rag. So the joke’s on you, stupid tank who didn’t know better! I think…

Hey, I saw your guys post on wowinsiders classified and I’ve been following Ambers blog since day 1. Was wondering if you guys need a tank to help with progression. I love the atmosphere of intentional derps for fun. My paladin is 374 with 7/7 clear.

It doesn’t take a new recruit to wipe on trash for us.

Anyway, I’m kind of laughing to myself: perhaps there should be a Career Builder ot Linkedin service for guild hiring/firing. That would be another way to take the fun out of it.

Sometimes the most fun of the night comes from seeing “Asshat has left the guild.”

There’s a particular trash-pack just before the Rhyo gauntlet consisting of a bunch of dogs and a flamewalker. It’s somehow become traditional to wipe on that pack, no matter what we do. (okay, it helps that the tanks tend to run in and gleefully pull before anyone knows what’s hit us…)

I’m pretty sure we could use another tank. Maybe create an alt in SiB to talk with Clairedelune in game?

@Liadrina We are actually looking for a tank and some healers to get a second group off the ground. Poke me in game like Kotakh said, or shoot me an e-mail at indigodragyn at gmail dot com. ^^

Did you happen to see this new glyph on the PTR?

I’ve seen raid nights that were completely wipe-free (including two kills of brand new bosses) that had several wipes on trash. I still remember the horror of the BoT trash pulls, and the ICC traps.

I’m pretty sure it’s only you guys that suck, and wipe on trash ;P
