THIS MEANS I GET TO MAKE SILLY BREZ MACROS RIGHT?
- Hey, you weren’t meant to come back ALIVE!
- Return from the grave to serve your new master! (@Bulidar)
- Stop dying you coward! (@snack_road)
- Your rotting flesh was just getting in the way! (@_Rades)
- …this isn’t a ghoul. Come back here, I have to kill you and try again!
- I now name you Pebblethief! (and various versions thereof)
- Hey! If I don’t get to nap, neither do you.
- (SiB specific) Wait, you’re not Kotakh!
- Here, now you don’t have to try to find your way back into the instance.
- You’re an Army of Dead of one. (@stealingzen)
- Now ask your self this, am I rezzing you because I like you? Or because I hate you and want to see you die again?
- Try to suck less this time, okay?
- Again, with less death!
- Look, I’m new at this, so don’t sue me if your organs are in the wrong place.
- Psst! I also offer repair services! (Engineer DK specific. :P )
- Well, you’re alive. There may be a slight side effect where you might want to eat living flesh, but it’ll pass. I hope. (@PixelExecution)
- Trust me, that sword sticking through your lung is normal. No, I didn’t put it there, and I resent any implications that I did! (@PixelExecution)
- Curses! A corpse I don’t get to control! (@PixelExecution)
- Now, your wounds didn’t completely heal so you might bleed out again, but you’re alive! (@PixelExecution, yes he was having fun with these)
- I think I fixed the internal bleeding this time…
- Experiment number 76 is go!
- Version 2.0.3 of ‘player’ released. Now with less durability! (@YayitsJake)
- Okay, fine…nipple shocking didn’t work. I’ll do it the OTHER way. (again with the DK engineerness.)
- Damn it, get back into the fight! Worry about getting all your fingers reattached LATER! (@PixelExecution)
- Rise, my soldiers! Rise and fight once more! (o hai Noth)
- Oh no you lost aggro on the floor!
If for some reason you want the full, un-annotated patch notes, you can go here. I threw it up on GDocs for people who can’t get around IT blocks like I can. \o/
World of Warcraft Client Patch 3.3.3
Squishy Priest does not give a shit. Squishy priest has not PvP’d since maaaybe the second season of arenas for a REASON…okay, reasonS. Namely, rogues and warlocks. THIS IS WHY I HATE ARRENS. TIMES TWO.
Dungeons & Raids
Hellscream’s Warsong and Strength of Wrynn now provide their bonuses to player pet health and damage, as well as the absorption amounts of Power Word: Shield and Sacred Shield.
Thank you for ungimping me. On two toons. Omnomnom moar bubbles!
World Event Bosses
The previous summoning criteria for these bosses have been removed. Players can queue up for and fight each World Event boss as many times as they want for any standard loot that they may drop.
All rare holiday items (such as The Horseman’s Reins) will have a chance of being found in holiday-themed loot troves which will drop once for each player in the party no more than once per day, in the same manner that doing the Random Dungeon daily quest will provide a specific reward the first time it is completed in a day.
I would care more if I could actually be arsed to do those bosses. But I can’t. But I’m sure for those who do it’s…good?….yes?
Several raid buffs have had their ranges increased to 100 yards, up from 45 yards, to prevent select buffs from repeatedly getting applied and removed during highly mobile encounters. Some buffs, such as paladin auras, totems, shouts and Blood Pact are intentionally meant to have shorter ranges and remain unchanged.
WARNING. DEATH KNIGHTS RECIEVED BUFFS. I REPEAT, BUFFS. THE END OF THE WORLD IS NIGH. Or that’s what I was told, anyway, I couldn’t be arsed to actually read/make sense of all that.
Something something feral druids creamed their pants something something.
Ferocious Inspiration: This ability is now an aura and provides 1/2/3% damage to all party or raid members within 100 yards and boosts the damage of Steady Shot by 3/6/9%.
Heart of the Phoenix: Cooldown reduced to 8 minutes, down from 10 minutes.
And we’re still the mockery of many hunters because people are twatwaffles. But, while they are still twatwaffles, we are now somewhat less fail. \o/
something something Frost is still boring to level with and my mage will be level 57 until WoW shuts down.
Renewed Hope: now has a 60-second duration, up from 20 seconds, but a 15-second cooldown.
Oh look, the one pertinent part of this whole thing and I just stare blankly at it. Yay, more duration? I…don’t think the cool down will be an issue, really. I mean if it was someone would have QQ’d about it already, so I’ll smile and nod and be on my merry way.
Still kill me in PvP and become floor smears in PvE, so since the patch notes weren’t “all die in a fire” I don’t care.
Flame Shock: The damage-over-time component of this ability can now produce critical strikes and is affected by spell haste.
My baby ele shaman might think this is kind of awesome. Maybe. Some day. When she is at the point where gear has haste on it.
Elemental Oath: This ability is now always on as a passive aura.
“Fixed soul shatter so that it doesn’t completely blow” was not, sadly, on this list.
Prot “DPS” now slightly less lol.
We have a raid scheduled tonight.
As long as Clique functions, I’m okay, actually. Well, and dominos. Oh, am I fucked if dominos breaks. Here’s hopin’. Thankfully for Tuesdays I tend to go huntering if I go at all, and that’s easy peasy.
So I’m already wound up enough, what with the first 25 man with me as guild leader, and then we have to have issues all night. It started with the Beasts pull and our OT DCing…and being unable to log back on for awhile. That was pretty much the theme of the night.
Pyxy, tank. Ghostfacee, melee DPS. Erdkrieg, healer. Iknowyou, ranged DPS. Mikata, healer. Myself, healer, though I thankfully didn’t have patch issues. It was a rotating cluserfuck of 24 manning nearly every gods be damned thing because we were always missing someone.
Healing felt light and I don’t know if it was due it group comp, silly inattentive people, the particular tanks we’d chosen (Pyx is still catching up in gear to the other thanks and Mega just doesn’t have Zoja’s avoidances), server fail, or all of those. I know I was lolfailing at one point, to my bafflement-I lolfail at many things, but to be hit by Icehowl? ICEHOWL?! On my screen, it looked like he was facing me, so I ran to one side, to you know…get out of the way. Instead, I ran into him. WTF? GAH. I think I’ll stick with “all of those” as my answer and cross my fingers for better luck next week.
On my Current Things To Do As GM List is “find my spine”. I should get right on that.
ETA: Kestrel mentioned my name and the phrase “mad comic genius” together. I feel better now.
Of course the first thing I do after patching up is log in and see what addons are vomiting lua errors. I always cringe when x-perl is one of them-wow ace had an alpha that was 6 days old, but that just vomited fewer errors. Cartogopher just flat out curled up and died, but everything else was either updated or working fine, so I grabed a Zoja and some random DPS and off we went!
New instance time! The first thing we discovered is that in the ground part of phase one, the rogue NPC will two shot priests. Isn’t that handy to know? I found that out after healing a silly ret pally, so I highly suggest you let your tank…I don’t know, actually grab everything and tank. Everything else seems pretty easy, until you get to the Black Knight. As a disc priest I found myself flailing a wee bit as two ret pallys tried to blow themselves up on ghouls. It doesn’t seem like it’s overly friendly to melee heavy groups. From the sounds from Steve’s group it’s not very kind on resto druids, either, so I’d suggest that everyone be a bit careful going into the Black Knight fight. Ghouls go asplody, okay?
It’s a quick instance, but it would be even quicker if the announcer would shut the fuck up. I want a /slap option for him, but him getting killed by the black knight makes it almost worth it. I am also heakoous
We did run into a few bugs-NPCs not dismounting when they ought to and running around shotting people, for one, but if they’re the last ones up you can run out and reset them. When you come back they should all be properly dismounted.
For the record: killing those Converted Heros? Blizzard, you DID realize that you put most of them in large packs, right? And that pulling large parks of them results in DEATH for lonely little priestys, forcing them into hunting down the few solitary buggers? Right? Right? ‘Cause fuck you, seriously.
I think I remember them spawning in singles a bit south of the obvious farming location, but I couldn’t find exactly where last night because they were being camped to hell and back. I’ll have to remember where that is and plunk my space goat ass there, because the wide open place is Bad.
I totally forgot to buy my raptor pet, but I did at least get Jamethera her flying (YAY). I also dinged DKAmbro 60 and bought her a non-dead pony. Tonight’s a raid night (after which I’ll bitch about replen, penance, and PoH nerfs), but then it’s alting time again…well, assuming I’m not running heroics…er…fuck. Too many things to do!
I also hope that X-Perl has been properly updated tonight.
-My warrior’s slow mount isn’t so slow anymore! Yay! ‘Cause Lord knows leveling a prot specced warrior herbalist wasn’t slow enough already. “Let’s go qu-OH HERB! Alright I think I was going here for those m-HERB! HERB! HERB!-fuck what was I doing?”
-I can buy that book and give it to my level 73 hunter so she can use her epic flying! Yay!
-I can get my priest her Crusader title and do even more annoying new dailies
-Maybe if my DKs have flying leveling them into Northrend will be less annoying! That way when I go AFK, I can just fly up to a safe spot as opposed to going AFK and getting ganked/eaten by mobs.
Of course everyone is going to want to run heroics now, and my “mains” are a healer and…a tank. Do you see where this is going? My chances of alting at least for the next few days are slim unless I alt off server and shut off AIM. And my cell phone. And hide from my GM who lives across the street…
So I…have to go home and respec my toons again?
Disc and shadow specs for the priest
Holy spec for the pally
Prot spec for the warrior
Unholy spec for the DK
Unholy spec for the OTHER DK
BM spec for the hunter
…and those are just the ones I play right now. Sooner or later I’ll go back to my mage and my druid and go, bwuh? Oh, and the other priest.
And maybe it’s Ulduar looming on our schedule next week, but I’m tired of stupid shit from our raiders. If we say you have a 5 minute break, you have a five fucking minute break. Not ten. If, just after said break is up, you tell us you need to hearth to get more ammo, I’m going to give you shit. If you, as the guild leader, tell me to not give the idiot so much shit, I will remind you that Ulduar is SRS BZNZ. If you, the guild leader, point out that this is not Ulduar, I’ll wonder how to expect this repeat offender, who pulled this shit when Naxx was progression, will magically transform when we get to Ulduar by our going lightly on him now.
But dissenting opinions and different point of views is why you have officers, right?
I go to Ulduar armed with my scathing wit and the Purple Diamond of Fail!
So I wanted to talk to you about Raiding as Disc Post 3.1, and Raiding Post 3.1 With Multiple Disc Priests.
Instead, I am here to give you boss strats.
Boss Strats: The Loading Screen
Multi Stage Fight, OMG!
Stage One: Assemble the Raid
Oh foolish mortal. It’s the day after patch day and you want to proceed with your scheduled raid days and maybe even look at that new content they put in. If nothing else, playing with dual specs in instances is cool, right?
This stage of the boss fight is your typical Herding Cats situation, just like every other raid you’ve ever done.
Stage Two: Report to the Instance You Want To Do
Let’s say you’ve got Naxx on the schedule (we did). Show up at the instance and pick a portal. Execution needn’t be precise, just don’t miss a portal and go sailing off the edge.
After a minute or two of staring at the loading screen (boss timers are imprecise-new patch content after all!!!!), get kicked back out and receive the Instance Not Found error.
Stage Three: Scout
After a brief kerfluffle in officer chat, send a few intrepid souls with epic flyers to test OS and EoE. Receive A-OK reports from both. The rest of the raid at this time stands around Naxx making lewd comments in /raid and making fun of people, usually guildies.
Stage Four: Head Out!
Have everyone start heading over to OS, because the GM decided to go there even though your disc priest officer is going OMG YUMMY EOE 25 LEWTZ. PUGGING EOE IS A BITCH WE’VE NEVAR DONE IT AS A GUILD LETS GO. While said disc priest is pouting, summon half the raid to the stone because they’re too fucking lazy to make the short hop over. Your scout, who is running around in circles inside the instance, tells you to come in.
Stage Five: “Hey, Guys…”
At this point, several members of the raid make the initial rush to the instance. They see the loading screen for OS, the bar fills up (YAY, it didn’t even do that at Naxx!) and then…
…they stay there…
Remember, communication is key there. Make sure that EVERYONE that is stuck repeats this fact on vent, several times. They are STUCK on the LOADING SCREEN OF DOOM.
This stage can last anywhere from 45 minutes to several hours. The raid, in the meantime, is called.
Stage Six: Altitis
You have options for the last stage of the boss. If you have alts, hop on them while staring at your main hovering in the Unknown. If you were one of the lucky ones who didn’t get caught, we hate you, go do dailies. If you manage to pry our main out of there after several hours, be sure to foolishly contemplate doing a heroic. If you’re one of our tanks, Wreckz, try to get into VH and die on the loading screen somehow.
We’re still trying to figure that one out, by the way.
So my Wednesday night sucked, how was yours?
