So I…have to go home and respec my toons again?

…reeeeaaally, Blizzard?

Disc and shadow specs for the priest
Holy spec for the pally
Prot spec for the warrior
Unholy spec for the DK
Unholy spec for the OTHER DK
BM spec for the hunter

…and those are just the ones I play right now.  Sooner or later I’ll go back to my mage and my druid and go, bwuh? Oh, and the other priest.

And maybe it’s Ulduar looming on our schedule next week, but I’m tired of stupid shit from our raiders.  If we say you have a 5 minute break, you have a five fucking minute break.  Not ten.  If, just after said break is up, you tell us you need to hearth to get more ammo, I’m going to give you shit.  If you, as the guild leader, tell me to not give the idiot so much shit, I will remind you that Ulduar is SRS BZNZ.  If you, the guild leader, point out that this is not Ulduar, I’ll wonder how to expect this repeat offender, who pulled this shit when Naxx was progression, will magically transform when we get to Ulduar by our going lightly on him now.

But dissenting opinions and different point of views is why you have officers, right?

I go to Ulduar armed with my scathing wit and the Purple Diamond of Fail!

Change of Plans

So I wanted to talk to you about Raiding as Disc Post 3.1, and Raiding Post 3.1 With Multiple Disc Priests.

Instead, I am here to give you boss strats.

Boss Strats: The Loading Screen
Multi Stage Fight, OMG!

Stage One: Assemble the Raid
Oh foolish mortal.  It’s the day after patch day and you want to proceed with your scheduled raid days and maybe even look at that new content they put in.  If nothing else, playing with dual specs in instances is cool, right?
This stage of the boss fight is your typical Herding Cats situation, just like every other raid you’ve ever done.

Stage Two: Report to the Instance You Want To Do
Let’s say you’ve got Naxx on the schedule (we did).  Show up at the instance and pick a portal.  Execution needn’t be precise, just don’t miss a portal and go sailing off the edge.
After a minute or two of staring at the loading screen (boss timers are imprecise-new patch content after all!!!!), get kicked back out and receive the Instance Not Found error.

Stage Three: Scout
After a brief kerfluffle in officer chat, send a few intrepid souls with epic flyers to test OS and EoE.  Receive A-OK reports from both.  The rest of the raid at this time stands around Naxx making lewd comments in /raid and making fun of people, usually guildies.

Stage Four: Head Out!
Have everyone start heading over to OS, because the GM decided to go there even though your disc priest officer is going OMG YUMMY EOE 25 LEWTZ.  PUGGING EOE IS A BITCH WE’VE NEVAR DONE IT AS A GUILD LETS GO.  While said disc priest is pouting, summon half the raid to the stone because they’re too fucking lazy to make the short hop over.  Your scout, who is running around in circles inside the instance, tells you to come in.

Stage Five: “Hey, Guys…”
At this point, several members of the raid make the initial rush to the instance.  They see the loading screen for OS, the bar fills up (YAY, it didn’t even do that at Naxx!) and then…

…they stay there…

“Hey, guys?”

Remember, communication is key there.  Make sure that EVERYONE that is stuck repeats this fact on vent, several times.  They are STUCK on the LOADING SCREEN OF DOOM.

This stage can last anywhere from 45 minutes to several hours.  The raid, in the meantime, is called.

Stage Six: Altitis
You have options for the last stage of the boss.  If you have alts, hop on them while staring at your main hovering in the Unknown.  If you were one of the lucky ones who didn’t get caught, we hate you, go do dailies.  If you manage to pry our main out of there after several hours, be sure to foolishly contemplate doing a heroic.  If you’re one of our tanks, Wreckz, try to get into VH and die on the loading screen somehow.

We’re still trying to figure that one out, by the way.

So my Wednesday night sucked, how was yours?

Post Patch Day Maddness

First off, for my fellow squishies who are thinking for going shadow for the first time (shut up: I know I am not the only one who leveled a healing spec, damn it), Binary colors posted a lovely, simple “How Not To Suck” guide

Does that mean I went shadow for my dual spec?  No.  Lyr has purchased dual specs but as of yet chosen nothing.  I want to go shadow.  Ron, however, went Holy…and I know he doesn’t really want to go Holy (though he’s not as enamoured of the idea of Shadow as I am), so I feel strongly compelled to join him in suffering.  For the good of the guild, of course.  In other words, I’m waffling, as always.

I lost spellpower on Lyr.  This makes me a sad panda.  :(

Ambrosyne is sitting there entirely unspecced until I work out what, exactly, would be A Good Holy Spec.  She won’t have dual-specs for awhile-I r broke.  There is a slight temptation to go prot.

The problem with mass-respecs is that I have a lot of alts.  Like…a lot.  I have no idea what I want to do with some of them.  Since instance servers were down I spent much of my night flopping from one toon to the next.  I respecced Vainglory, my DK on Azgalor, Unholy…same as she was before.  Ambrosine-DK went from Frost pre-patch to Unholy, at least for now.  The chances of me leveling her are relatively slim.

That leaves me with: 55 mage (previously fire), 48 druid (previously kitteh), 70 hunter (BM forevah), and 75 warrior (previously prot).  Might take the mage frost for future leveling, have no idea what to do with the druid, need a good BM spec for the hunter (fuck you, Survival), and might dual spec the warrior prot/fury.   Gaaaah, decisions.

We are not hitting Ulduar tonight.  I advised against canceling our scheduled raid to better give us a shot and adjusting to class changes in a familiar enviornment.  Besides, some of us still need gear.  A more comprehensive report of how disc priests fare post-patch, and how two bubble-happy disc priests can co-exist in a raid shall fall upon your eyes tomorrow.

At least most of my mods were fine-Chatter was initially broken but was updated an hour or so later.  X-perl is functioning but…not entirely, as I can’t right click on any portraits to do anything.

“Amber, how did you leave the group?”
“…I logged.”

Didn’t get to test Grid but by all reports it continues to work.   Steve is bitching and moaning about how this was a terrible patch, but for those of us with longer memories, we know that this actually wasn’t too terrible.  Steve’s a nub.

So we can’t experiment with our new builds because all of the instance servers are down.

Welcome to Patch Day!

Brief Patch Day Thoughts

-Judgements of the Pure: This Holy talent now increases the damage done by Seals and Judgements.

Sweet. I can now…er…solo more effectively? Wut? Yeah. I’m on a PvP server. I try not to solo if I can help it (lolololDKfodder).

-Judgement of Wisdom: Now returns a percentage of base mana instead of a percentage of max mana.

This is…uh…hm. You know, honestly, I don’t know wtf that means. I mean I understand base mana and max mana. But IS a percentage of base better than max? Or worse? /headtilt A percentage of a smaller number sounds worse than a percentage of a bigger number, but…I…er. Mind. Meeeelting!

-Avenging Wrath: Divine Shield, Divine Protection, and Avenging Wrath cannot be used within 30 seconds of each other anymore. Forbearance removed from Avenging Wrath.

This is good, because I go D: when needing to bubble…and not being able to because wings triggered Forbearance.

-Holy: Circle of Healing now has a 6 second cooldown.

YAY. Now nerf AoE damage plox.

-Levitate is now castable on others.

I will find a way to use this to annoy people.

-Rapture: This talent will now correctly return mana for Power Word: Shield based on the caster’s mana poll instead of the target’s mana pool.

Score! More mana!

-Glyph of Holy Light now affects friendly targets in a larger radius.

Yay, more overhealing! It might even be slightly more useful.

…no change to Glyph of FoL? D:
